2.1 Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Kgotla Ventures B.V., registered in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands (KvK 70774684), collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit kgotla.com or get in touch with us. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Kgotla Ventures B.V. is the data controller for this website. Our contact details are given at the end of this policy.
2.2 What personal data we collect
- Contact details you give us directly — e.g. name, email address, phone number, company name and message content, when you fill in an enquiry form or email us.
- Newsletter sign-up details, if you choose to subscribe.
- Technical and usage data collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies when you browse the site — e.g. pages visited, browser type, approximate location. See our Cookie Policy below for details.
- Information you share with us in emails, phone calls or meetings — for example when we prepare a programme together.
2.3 Why we use your data, and our legal basis
- To respond to enquiries you send us — legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
- To send you the newsletter, if you've subscribed — legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To understand how visitors use our website, so we can improve it — legal basis: your consent (for non-essential analytics cookies) or our legitimate interest (for strictly necessary cookies).
- To comply with legal or accounting obligations — legal basis: legal obligation.
2.4 Who we share your data with
We don’t sell personal data. We may share it with service providers who process it on our behalf — for example, email/newsletter platforms, website hosting, or scheduling tools. These providers act only on our instructions, are bound by confidentiality and a data processing agreement, and may not use your data for their own purposes. We may also disclose data where required by law.
2.5 International data transfers
Because Kgotla operates through offices in the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Greece and Botswana, personal data may occasionally be accessed from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) — for example, by colleagues in our Hong Kong or Botswana offices. Where personal data is transferred to a country outside the EEA that does not have an adequacy decision from the European Commission, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
2.6 How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes described above. Enquiry and correspondence data is kept for up to two years after our last contact, unless we have an ongoing working relationship. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Where the law requires us to keep records for longer — for example invoices and accounting records, which must be kept for seven years in the Netherlands — we keep them for that period.
2.7 Your rights
If you’re in the EU/EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar protections, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Ask for your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at martijn@kgotla.com. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens), or with the data protection authority in your own country.
2.8 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies.
