The Red Cross is made up of at least 340 individual associations, which led to difficult communication and unnecessary costs.
The dream: To unite the 340 associations into one organisation, the Dutch Red Cross.
The result: Over a six-month period we held many Kgotlas with the 2,700 workers and volunteers. In total, 48 decisions were taken. In one decision, taken at the annual general meeting, the members agreed to dissolve their individual organisations to become a single association. The Red Cross is now a single entity.
‘The Kgotla is a perfect way to bridge large differences of opinion and listen to everyone’s ideas.’
